Spay & Neuter Campaign
The first of our main programs, we partner with local vet clinics to help provide low-cost spay & neuter access to eligible pet owners of Walker County. We are in the process of setting up this program, but you can join the waiting list until we are able to offer this service.
Foster Based Rescue
As a foster based rescue, we rely on our foster families to be able to intake new rescue dogs. Foster families are responsible for feeding, sheltering and caring for the Dot’s Friends dogs in their care. Dot’s Friends covers the cost of veterinary treatment and monthly preventatives.
Adoption Process
We want to ensure our foster dogs are the best match for your family & lifestyle, so the application linked below contains several questions to help us understand what you are looking for in a dog. Once you return the completed form to dotsfriendsrescue@gmail.com, our board will review & work to match you with one of our foster dogs. We will then do a meet & greet either in person or virtually and if everything goes well, you will sign the adoption agreement & be able to bring your new friend home!
Under a year old: $400
One to 7 years old: $350
Over 7 years old: $300
Brachycephalic (short nosed) breeds: $500
These fees help to cover the cost of veterinary care upon intake, spay or neuter, microchip, vaccinations, preventatives, collar, leash and ID. Occasionally we will have reduced fees for dogs with special circumstances.
Brachycephalic dogs such as Bulldogs require more support during surgery, increasing the cost of sterilization. Many also require surgery to prevent Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). To help cover this increased cost, the adoption fee for brachycephalic breeds will be $500.
